Hey there! Hope you're having a great week!
Have you ever brought cupcakes to your child's school or a party but realized you had nothing to carry them in? You could buy a $25 cupcake carrier, or...
You could create this cheap & cute version...
This is what you need:
Shoe Box
Wrapping Paper/Scrapbook paper
Ribbon
Cardboard/Poster Board or another lid of a shoebox
Use the wrapping paper to cover the shoebox. I began by using tape to cover it like a present but it ended up working better using a glue stick to adhere it.
To make the cupcake holder insert, use wax paper or tracing paper (you know I'm a cheapie so I went with the wax paper) & trace over a cupcake tin. I made X's but I would recommend tracing circles.
Lay the wax paper over the cardboard or poster board & use an exacto knife to cut along the traced lines.
* Just a suggestion, the cardboard I used was a little thick. I think I'd try posterboard instead.
Place the cardboard insert into the box.
You could use the ribbon as "handles" or wrap it around like I did above.
The great thing about this cupcake carrier is that if you accidentally leave it somewhere...you're only out a couple of dollars.
And...What a stylish way to deliver some delicious cupcakes.
I love how pretty & pink this is...but ofcourse you can cover it in any style of paper you prefer.
Don't have an extra shoe box laying around?
Guess you have an excuse to get a new pair of shoes!! :-) (Hey...I'm all about penny-pinching but a girl's gotta have her shoes ;p)
Can't wait to see you next week! If you love those apothecarthy jars, you'll want to check back next week! :-) I've got a cheaper version using things you have around the house.

ReplyDeleteThe Stuff of Success...too funny! Thanks so much for stopping by! Can't wait to check out your blog! :-) Have a great rest of your weekend!
Deletethis is a fabulous idea. my sister has also used cereal boxes to carry pastries and such...similar, but not exactly the same. the shoe box gives more "head room" for cupcake frosting.
